Chase Bank is giving 1 million dollars to the nonprofit charity that gets the most votes from January 15-22, 2009. In the first round, out of 500,000 nonprofit charities in the US, the Jakara Movement was one of the top 100 that moved on to the next round. Now we have a chance to go even further.
The Jakara Movement is a registered 501c3 nonprofit charity organization committed to social justice and gender equality in immigrant communities. With a mission statement dedicated to gender justice, the issue of women’s health and domestic violence prevention are central to the Jakara Movement’s goals. Taking a holistic approach that concerns itself with both young men and women, the Jakara Movement seeks not only to help those in need now, but create effective solutions for future prevention.
